How it started
It all started on one starry night at Ma' kai Restaurant and Lounge in Santa Monica. William's company was having their monthly new hire happy hour. Of course, Aileen happened to crash his company's happy hour. Aileen initially did not want to go but Anthony, who is also William's co-worker and Aileen's roommate, convinced her to go because he said there is FREE food and drinks. And the Chinese-ness in Aileen said yes to this outing. Next thing you know they introduced themselves and had a great conversation about biking and outdoor adventures. It was a great night until William failed to get Aileen's phone number the first time. He failed again at getting her number the second time, And he failed again the third time. Finally, William messaged Aileen on Facebook and gave her his WRONG phone number. Aileen made the first move and texted him. Fast forward, they went FINALLY went out, ate ice cream, ate nuggets, drank boba, and the rest is history.
the proposal
William popped the question during Aileen's 30th birthday trip in Oahu, Hawaii. William initially wanted to propose on Diamond Head. But Aileen kept changing their itinerary. After three failed attempts, he improvised and proposed on the balcony with the view of Waikolohe pool at Aulani. Aileen claims that the normally calm and collected William nervously asked the question while down on one knee. Whichever account is true, suffice it to say that here we all are to celebrate their marriage!
